Abrielle Baldwin, a 23-year-old mother of two, tragically lost her life during a horrifying incident that unfolded at their grandmother’s home in Florida. The incident, resulting in her untimely demise, involved a heated argument among siblings during Christmas.
According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Abrielle’s brother, Damarcus, aged 14, reportedly shot her during a dispute over their Christmas gifts. The altercation escalated rapidly, resulting in Damarcus firing a fatal shot at his sister while she was holding her 11-month-old child in a baby carrier.
In a devastating turn of events, Abrielle’s other brother, 15-year-old Darcus Coley, then intervened by shooting Damarcus in response to his sister’s shooting. The chaotic episode led to both Damarcus and Abrielle being rushed to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, Abrielle succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased, while Damarcus remains in stable condition.
The altercation stemmed from a verbal argument over Christmas presents that occurred after the siblings, along with their mother and Abrielle’s two young sons, returned from a Christmas shopping trip. The tense exchange quickly turned fatal as Damarcus, reportedly upset over unequal gifts, resorted to violence.
Sheriff Gualtieri expressed profound sorrow over the tragedy, describing Abrielle as a woman striving to make a life for herself and her children. He also highlighted the alarming proliferation of guns among youngsters, terming it as the worst he had ever witnessed in the area.
Following the incident, Darcus fled the scene, later making contact with his mother and subsequently being taken to a mental health facility after making statements indicating self-harm tendencies. Meanwhile, Damarcus faces severe charges including 1st Degree Murder, Child Abuse, and Delinquency in Possession of a Firearm. Darcus, on the other hand, has been charged with Attempted 1st Degree Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
